It is perched on a hill just outside of the town and offers breath-taking views of the Maasai Steppe and Mount Meru.

You then move to a luxurious and remote seasonal camp situated in Tanzania’s flagship conservation area, the Serengeti National Park. Enjoy outstanding views of the vast Serengeti plains from Sayari Camp, conveniently located near the Mara River to allow for sensational viewing of the annual Migration river crossings around mid-year. Finally, get whisked away from the action to a secluded, palm-fringed beach with powder-white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water. Spend your last few days unwinding in the peaceful atmosphere of Matemwe Lodge’s private ocean-front bungalows on Zanzibar’s north-eastern coast. Explore the rest of the Spice Island on day trips to the historical Stone Town and Prison Island, and the fragrant spice plantations. For the next couple of days, you will explore one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, renowned for its large population of lions and home to the biggest terrestrial mammal migration on the planet, the Wildebeest Migration. If you are lucky enough to stay at Sayari Camp around about July to August, you may be able to witness the dramatic Mara River crossings - the camp has easy access to multiple river crossing points in the Serengeti National Park. But the Serengeti's pleasant climate and abundance of resident wildlife - like buffalo, elephant, giraffe and all the big cats - make it is an excellent year-round game viewing destination.

Relax in the camp's beautiful infinity pool after a game drive or guided walk, or curl up with a good book and a glass of wine in the lounge. Cosy up beside the camp fire for a tipple and share safari stories while the chefs prepare your mouth-watering blend of European and African cuisine. Meals are served in an intimate dining area, or can be enjoyed in the bush under the magnificent starry sky.

After all the Serengeti action, you might want to do nothing except soak up the sun beside the pool or in your hammock with a refreshing cocktail from the lodge's bar. Pamper yourself with wonderful, de-stressing massages and spa treatments.

If you are feeling active, set out on diving and snorkelling excursions to discover the Mnemba Atoll - a renowned reef and fascinating underwater world. Or simply hop onto one of the lodge's complimentary kayaks and explore the surrounding turquoise waters. Day trips can also be arranged to explore the historical cobbled streets of Stone Town, the island capital's old quarter, buzzing with colourful markets and local flavours.

Feast on fresh seafood combined with local produce in Matemwe's cosy lounge area or around the pool. Lunch is usually a buffet-style blend of African and European dishes, and dinner features various fish, meat and vegetarian options. Marvel at the gorgeous sunset every night with a delicious drink in hand.
